ZTE nubia Z50S Pro to launch on July 20 with upgraded camera and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

ZTE’s nubia brand is set to unveil its new flagship smartphone, the Z50S Pro, on July 20. The device will be a successor to the nubia Z50, which was launched in December 2022. The Z50S Pro will feature some major improvements in the camera and performance departments, according to the official teasers.

The Z50S Pro will sport a massive round camera module on the back, which will house a custom 35mm main lens with an f/1.59 aperture and a 7-element design. The camera will also support flexible ISO values and fast shutter speed, as demonstrated by a sample photo of a kitten shared by nubia’s CEO Ni Fei. The camera specifications of the other sensors are not yet revealed, but they are expected to include an ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens.

The Z50S Pro will also be one of the first smartphones to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version chipset, which is slightly faster than the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that powers the Z50. The new chipset can reach up to 3.36GHz clock speed and offers better performance and efficiency. The Z50S Pro will also come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, based on a Geekbench listing.

The Z50S Pro will run on Android 13 with nubia’s MyOS 13 skin on top. It will also support 80W wired charging, which can fully charge its 5000mAh battery in about half an hour. The device will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

The Z50S Pro will be available in four color options: Black, Silver, Mint, and Rabit red. The pricing and availability details are not yet announced, but they will be revealed at the launch event on July 20. The Z50S Pro is expected to compete with other flagship smartphones from OnePlus, Xiaomi, Samsung, and others in the premium segment.
