Even though it's well past Black Friday, you may find a better deal on a new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy phone from AT&T if you've been contemplating upgrading this holiday season. The carrier's promotion for new and upgrading customers now offers up to $1,000 off a new Apple or Samsung device with a trade-in.
In addition to an unlimited plan, a 36-month payment plan is required to receive the discount in the form of bill credits.
AT&T has dabbled in the past with advertising $1,000 discounts on iPhones. Recently, it teased the discount in the lead-up to the release of Apple's new iPhone 14 line, before dialing it back to a maximum of $800 off in recent weeks. At AT&T's February 22 launch of the Galaxy S22, the company offered discounts of up to $800 for customers who traded in any working or broken Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, or Galaxy Z smartphone.
If you trade in your old phone to AT&T and it's worth at least $230, you can get $1,000 off the cost of a brand new iPhone. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, S22 line, Z Fold 2 or Fold 3, the Google Pixel 6 Pro, or the OnePlus 10 Pro.
iPhone 14 Pro (AT&T)
Discounts of up to $800 are available for those who own an iPhone XS Max, an iPhone 11, an iPhone 11 Pro, or an iPhone 12 Mini. You can save up to $800 on a brand new phone by trading in select Android devices from Samsung (Galaxy S20 and S21 lines, Note 20 line, original Galaxy Fold or Fold 2 and the Z Flip 3 5G), Google (Pixel 5, 5A, and 6), OnePlus, Microsoft, and other Android manufacturers with an AT&T trade-in value of $130 to $229.
AT&T offers discounts of up to $350 when customers trade in eligible devices, such as the iPhone 8 series, iPhone SE (second or third gen), iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and a wide variety of Samsung, LG, Google, Motorola, and OnePlus phones.
The phone you trade in must be in “good working condition” for this offer to apply, but it is valid for the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. (Please see the complete agreement here.)
The carrier is much more lenient when it comes to Galaxy devices like the S22 line, Z Flip 4, and Z Fold 4. You can get a $1,000 discount on one of Samsung's newest smartphones if you trade in any device the carrier values at $35 or more. For the S22 and the Z Flip and Z Fold deals, the carrier doesn't specify that the old phone must be in “good working condition” for a trade-in either.
