Twitter’s CEO, Jack Dorsey, has Announced His Resignation with Immediate Effect

The CEO of Twitter, co-founder Jack Dorsey, has announced that he is resigning effective immediately and that (now, former CTO) Parag Agarwal will take his place as CEO, effective immediately.

He’s curious, probing, rational, creative, demanding, self-aware, and humble. He leads with heart and soul, and is someone I learn from daily. My trust in him as our CEO is bone deep.

After Jack Dorsey’s departure from Twitter in May 2022, Bret Taylor has been named as the new chair of the company’s board of executives, and Dorsey will continue on the board until then to assist in the transition. A company must have the ability to stand on its own, free from the influence of its founder, according to Dorsey in an email.

I want you all to know that this was my decision and I own it. It was a tough one for me, of course. I love this service and company… and all of you so much. I’m really sad… yet really happy. There aren’t many companies that get to this level. And there aren’t many founders that choose their company over their own ego. I know we’ll prove this was the right move.
