On Monday, European S22 units will receive the Stable One UI 5 update

Some of you Galaxy users may recall that Samsung promised to release One UI 5 and Android 13 for the S22 series in October. The Korean behemoth appears to be keeping its word, as S22 Ultra devices in Italy are now receiving word of the much anticipated OTA.

The relevant package has the firmware version S908BXXU2BVJA, weighs 2854.03 MB, and includes the most recent security patches from October 2022. That’s just the cherry on top, though, because the update’s changelog is, as you might expect, quite lengthy. View the screenshots or visit the link in the source for further information. The main characteristics are:

  • New icons
  • New call pop-up and new notification layout
  • New management for device customization (lock screen, wallpapers, new layout for widgets)
  • Productivity optimization (improved multitasking, a new possibility of extracting and scanning a text, optimized Samsung Dex and Samsung Notes, Connected Devices)
  • Optimized routine mode
  • New Sleep mode
  • Privacy and security optimization

The even better news is that on Monday, October 24th, the stable One UI 5 and Android 13 upgrade for the S22 family of handsets is expected to begin seeding in Europe. That’s within the next couple of hours and in par with Samsung’s original commitment. According to insiders in the tech industry, Samsung will roll out One UI 5.0 for the Z Fold4, Z Flip4, and the Galaxy S21 family of devices by the year’s end. In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4. Likely the Galaxy A53 as well.
