Leakster Sources Have Leaked That The Redmi K50 Will Support 100W Fast Charging and a Higher IP68 Rating

The details about a Snapdragon 870-powered phone (with a 6.7” 1080p+ OLED screen) leaked yesterday via Digital Chat Station. This may be a Redmi K50 model or part of a K40S series. DCS now has even more to impart.

The K50 family is starting with triple digits because the K50 models will be the first to support 100W fast charging (only flagship Mi phones and a couple of Black Sharks support 120W). IP68, meaning completely dust and water resistant, along with stereo speakers (probably meaning a separate earpiece and bottom speaker).

In contrast, the most advanced K40 model only offers IP53 (simple dust and splash resistance) and 67W charging (which is a bonus of having three additional models, as the other K40s max out at 33W).

According to rumors, the chipset going inside the three Redmi K50 models will be interesting. The 898 Snapdragon could be featured in the top model, with the Snapdragon 888 powering another, and, as you may remember, the Snapdragon 870 is another option.

It is not obvious if the top model alone will have 100W charging capability or if it will be shared across all three phones. Many have assumed that 67W was the device, but previously, there was also mention of a 67W launch. There are rumors that the highest end model will have a 108 MP main camera, whereas all other models will have 48 MP.

Xiaomi may release the Redmi K50 line in China. The names for international markets are most likely going to be different (e.g. the Poco F3 is a slightly modified Redmi K40).
