Instagram now has in-chat shopping capabilities

A new version of Instagram is available as of today, and it includes the ability to make purchases through direct messages. Only “approved small businesses” can use this feature, and they must confirm orders, issue payment requests, and collect funds without you leaving the conversation. This means that all of your transactional data, including inquiries, responses, and other communications with the company, as well as orders, shipments, and tracking details, are maintained in a single, easily accessible location.

Meta, Instagram’s parent company, claims that every week, one billion users communicate with a firm via one of its apps. This prompted Instagram to develop the new function so that interacting with your preferred businesses would be as simple as possible.

Instagram In-chat Shopping

The official news release describes a hypothetical situation in which you are interested in purchasing a bag and you initiate contact with the company producing it over Instagram Direct Message, discuss with the company about customizations, and then place your order within the chat. After that, you can ask any remaining questions you have and get updates on your order status all in the same conversation window. Paying using Meta Pay is an option.

If you run a small business, you can now accept payments directly from customers through Direct Messages (DMs). This includes everything from answering questions and confirming orders to sending invoices and receiving funds.
