Carphone Warehouse has a Comprehensive Leak of the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

    -

By now, it's safe to say that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have leaked multiple times. Unlike previous instances, Carphone Warehouse published the pages for both models before anyone else. Evan Blass was the first to notice them, and they've since been taken down. Before the October 19 unveiling, here's everything you need to know about the new Google phones.

First, let's take a look at the Pixel 6 Pro. A custom-built chipset from Google powers the device. An image processing chip had already been created, but it was not part of a more comprehensive system. It's called the Google Tensor chipset and incorporates AI hardware for boosting Night Sight, Portrait Mode, and the new Magic Eraser for mobile devices (more on that in a bit). The chipste is 80 percent faster than the Snapdragon 765G in the Pixel 5, despite being designed for battery economy.

In terms of cameras, the Google Pixel 6 Pro is head and shoulders above the competition. A 50 MP sensor occupies substantially more real estate than the Pixel 5's tiny 1/2.55″ sensor. A huge advantage for nighttime photography is that it collects 150% more light.

In addition, the telephoto lens has made a triumphant return. Optical magnification is 4x, but with the use of the included Super Res Zoom lens, that magnification increases to a whopping 20x. Other than the fact that it will have a 12 MP sensor, not much is known about the super wide camera. The front-facing selfie camera will have a 94-degree field of view (in RAW mode, presumably before lens correction).

It's time to talk about Magic Eraser, an artificial intelligence (AI) application for erasing undesired persons and things from photos. Most handy in touristy regions with a lot of people where you won't be able to get the place to yourself. In addition, there's Face Unblur, which restores the subject's face in fuzzy photos.

When charging with USB-C, the Pixel 6 Pro can get to 50% capacity in 30 minutes (the 30W charger will be sold separately). Also supported are 23W fast wireless charging, as well as battery sharing.

A 6.7-inch LTPO OLED panel with a refresh rate that may range from 10 Hz to 120 Hz will be used for the display. Gorilla Glass Victus will protect the phone's screen, and IP68 dust and water resistance will be included into the phone as a whole.

The new Titan M2 processor, a follow-up to the Titan M chip released with the Pixel 3 series, will focus on security as a primary feature. Google will provide five years of security updates to assist against new threats.

Offline translations in 55 languages round out the list of highlights. You may have a sign translated by pointing the camera at it, or you can have captions for a podcast translated by doing the same. For example, your plane ticket will appear in the At a Glance section if you have it enabled. The Pixels will run the latest version of Android 12, although some features are only available on Pixels.

Finally, some finishing touches. In addition to that, there's a 30W USB-C charger. The Pixel Stand wireless charger transforms the phone into a hub for controlling smart home devices and a photo frame for showing images from Google Photos when it is attached to the Pixel Stand base. Additionally, a translucent protective case is available that contains over 30% post-consumer recycled plastic.

After that, there's the Pixel 6. The Google Tensor chipset and Titan M2 security chip will be used in this device as well. Despite having the identical 50 MP primary and super wide-angle cameras, the phone will be missing the telephoto lens.

Regular OLED will be used for the 6.4-inch screen. It will have a high refresh rate, but it does not sound like an LTPO panel. The phone will still include Gorilla Glass Victus and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

The Pixel 6 has the same accessories, however the wireless charging is a little slower (21W) on the smaller model.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will go on sale on October 19, but only in eight countries. If you want one, you'll have to wait if you live in one of those. The Pixel 6 will cost €650 when it launches.
