Apple has unveiled the Unity Lights watch face and the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop watchband

Apple introduced the limited-edition Watch Series 6 Black Unity last year to commemorate Black History and culture, and the firm is now introducing the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop for its smartwatches to carry on the tradition.

An all-black team at Apple created the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop for Apple Watch. Using precision-braided technology, Apple claims to have woven together 16,000 recycled yarns and silicone strands to make the product. On the Solo Loop, the lugs include a laser-etched inscription of Black Unity and the colors of the Pan-African flag woven into the strap.

Apple says the strap’s design “symbolises a community belief in the necessity for a more equal world,” and to accompany it, the tech giant also revealed the Unity Lights watch face, built using 2D ray tracing.

Additional Afrofuturism-inspired wallpapers were made available to Apple’s Macintosh, iPad and iPhone customers in honor of Black History Month. There is a link to download them.

Apple’s official website sells the Black Unity Braided Loop for $99 in 41mm and 45mm case sizes, respectively.
